Study Claim Coffee Can Prevent Alzheimer’s Disease
The journal of Gerontology states that older women who consume above median levels of caffeine are less likely to experience cognitive impairment and dementia.
A research carried out with 6500 women between the age group 65-80. Regular consumption of caffeine (261 mg per day) lowered 36 percent of getting dementia.
This amount of caffeine is equal to 3 cups of coffee or 6 cups of black tea.
Another study carried out in 2014 states that people who consumed three cups of coffee everyday were less likely to get Alzheimer’s disease.
Beta-amyloid, which is thought to cause Alzheimer’s, can be prevented by caffeine.
A study carried out on mice show lower level of beta-amyloid after drinking coffee from young age.
Caffeine is also known to protect your brain from memory impairment.
In another test, mice that are older and never consume coffee from younger age were given this drink. Results were amazing. Caffeine quickly reduces amyloid-beta levels.
Identical test was carried out on humans and the results are remarkably same.
Apart from this, polyphenol available in this drink exhibit antioxidant activity that protect your brain from age-related issues.
Note: While studies are backing coffee to prevent Alzheimer’s disease. It is worth to note that excess consumption can also raise blood pressure.
